Sphere of Influence

By Kyle Mills
Have now FINALLY gotten around to reading a Kyle Mills book; have had him recommended several times by a friend, with whom I normally “agree”. And I was certainly not disappointed, although it was a little strange to read about al-Qaeda in these days with all the drama going on…
The book’s cover goes:
It was meant to be a quick undercover job freeing him from the managerial hell created by his recent job promotion to Special Agent in charge of a backwater office. But the job turns deadly for Mark Beamon when his young protégé is murdered – and the FBI is strangely reluctant to ask the questions that could bring the killers to justice.
Abandoned by the organization he has devoted his life to, Beamon finds himself tumbling further and further into his undercover persona – that of a cold-blooded mercenary known only as Nicolai. Too deep, perhaps, ever to return. As he finds himself trapped in a world where the line between international organized crime and world politics blurs – and as America begins to tear itself apart – he has to ask himself just how far he’s willing to go to save the country he loves.
