Guilty as Sin

By Tami Hoag
By now I have read a few Tami Hoag books – some of them better than others, and this one was definitely one of the better ones (though by no means fantastic).
The cover of the book goes:
The abduction of eight-year-old Josh Kirkwood sent shockwaves through the small community of Deer Lake. Even now, after the arrest of a suspect and Josh’s safe return, fear maintains it grip and questions linger. What happened to Josh at the hands of his kidnapper? Why has he not spoken a word since his return? Is the nightmare over – or just beginning?
Assistant County Attorney Ellen North’s assignment to the Kirkwood case has landed her in the hot seat. Not only must she contend with the media circus surrounding the case, but her every move is being shadowed by bestselling true-crime writer Jay Butler Brooks, a man as mysterious as the case itself.
When a second child is kidnapped while Ellen’s prime suspect is in jail, she knows that this is the latest twist in a cruel contest; that this is an invitation to play in a game of life and death.. With an evil mind as guilty as sin.
